Tough Love vs. Spanking

I got this email from my lifelong friend, Laurie. She has 5 grandkids. She is so funny! I loved it,

Tough Love vs. Spanking - Good Argument- Most people think it is improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of those moments. One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk. Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc. Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together. Eye to eye contact helps a lot too. I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

This works with grandchildren, nieces, and nephews as well!

I just read the comment on Bobbi's blog about the measle shot...I laughed so hard...I can totally picture you trying to be brave in front of the kids, then making the face. Syd and Ryan are so darn cute..the "twelve year old twins" is a perfect name for them. We call them "the sunbeam wranglers"...and they will have their hands full on Sunday..Lynette Brower is trying to figure out a way to hide a Diet Pepsi somewhere on the podium...

Pretty good. I wish I would have known that technique 20 years ago!

This is so hilarious. I was reading it and when it came to the "eye contact" I was wondering how I could do that while driving. Then your photo answered my question. I laughed so hard and then I saw the speed on the radar and laughed some more. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
