Lost Keys

This has been a crazy week. Lots going on . Lots of changes. Hopefully I can post fun stuff next week. Jerry took the week off and we went to the cabin. It was just him and I most of the week and we did NOTHING! It was great. He is so worn our from job, Bishop and family stuff. He just un-wound. He went to see his scouts and High-Adventure boys, but that was about it. I....worked on my computer, burned picture discs and cleaned off old stuff. Made a recipe book for the Relief Society cruise. Here are a few of the recipes!


Oreo Cookies

2 boxes devils food cake mix
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups shortening
4 eggs
Mix together and roll into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
Filling
1 lb powdered sugar
8 oz cream cheese
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup butter
Mix together and spread on cooled cookie and top with another cookie.

Lemon Water

5 quarts water
3 cups sugar
1 TBS lemon extract
1 heaping tsp. citric acid
Mix together and add ice and lemon slices. Best if served really cold.


Breakfast Soufflé

2 lbs. frozen Southern style hash browns
3/4 cup melted butter
1 lb sausage, cooked, drained and crumbled
6 beaten eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups shredded cheddar/jack cheese
Place hash browns in 9x13 pan. Pour melted butter over hash browns. Mix and evenly distribute. Bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes. While hash browns are baking, mix rest of ingredients in a large bowl. Pour mixture over the hash browns and stir to evenly distribute Return to oven and bake 40 minutes or until nicely brown and set.

The cookies are to die for, easy and goooood!
Also, Holly posted some great recipes from her picnic when Braxton was was sealed. http://life-should-be-delicious.blogspot.com/. Wonderful stuff. I made the fruit salad yesterday with my RASPBERRIES from my garden. SOOOOOO Good.

My life is changing so fast and as I was at the cabin, I realized that this is how it is going to be. Quiet. Gotta keep myself busy. Anyway.....thought I would post Day 9!

Day Nine.....Ancient Keys.

Love this one because she talks about taking her family to a ranch and when it was time to go home, she thought she would be so organized and send all the dirty laundry home with her brother so she could have more room in her car. They played the rest of the day and then when it was time to go home, no keys. They were in the pants that her husband wore YESTERDAY! I laughed because soooooo many times in my life I have done things like this, only trying to make my life better. Any way, someone had to drive the keys back and it was a long way.
She was never so happy to see the KEYS! It talks about who holds the latter-day keys. I love this one because I am so grateful to have a prophet in my life to listen to and follow. Times are so scary and all we have to do is listen and obey. We are so blessed to have the KEYS!
She says there are 5 things found in Mossiah that will help us apply the words of the Prophet in our lives.
1. Open our ears that we may hear.
2. Open our hearts that we may understand.
3. Open our minds.
4. Remember the words that we have been taught.
5. If ye believe all these things then ye do them.

Under his watchful care we learned to work harder to retain converts, pray more fervently, treat children with greater kindness, demonstrate more loyalty and respect for eternal companions, to be grateful, to be smart, to be clean, to be true, to be humble, and to be prayerful.

It is a crazy world. A friend told me once that it feels like the last 2 minutes of a ballgame and the score is tied. Craziness! But we can have peace, because we have the latter-day keys in our life. Like hiding a key, so we can get into our house, we hide our keys deep in our hearts. We follow our prophet, who has the keys, and we follow Our Savior.
